This is a bundle of two of my most popular courses, Ruby On Rails: Stock Market App and Ruby Programming For Everyone .
The question I get asked most often is this… Do I need to learn Ruby in order to use Ruby on Rails?
The answer is…No! But you SHOULD learn Ruby if you really want to become a Rails master. This course is perfect because you’ll learn both the Ruby programming language from beginner to advanced AND Ruby on Rails.
We’ll start out learning Ruby and we’ll start by setting up a free cloud development environment that has all the tools you need to start writing and running Ruby code.
Then, we’ll dive into very basic computer science concepts. Things like:
After that, we’ll move into more intermediate topics like:
Finally we’ll finish up with more advanced topics like:
After that we’ll move into Ruby on Rails and build a cool stock market app!
Our Stock Market app will let you look up stock quotes and financial information and save it to a database.
Users can create an account and sign up to your website, log in, add stocks, check stock prices and all kinds of other cool financial information.
We’ll style the website using the popular Bootstrap CSS framework (I’ll show you how to use it!)

Great course, really took me from zero to hero in ruby. Had some web apps (ideas) that i was planning to do in laravel after learning laravel but caught up with rails faster in just a couple of hours. Thanks John!

cloud9 no longer free, otherwise, it is ok…

This is a great course. John presents well organized material and builds a real world application using very good tools. The experience was so good that I’m going to to take more of his courses at codemy.com.

Hallo, The course started really slowly, a bit boring for a person with development background. The pace has picked up and I am learning a lot. John is explaining really well, giving hints and extra bit of information, where to find what on gems, bootstrap, etc, so one can do this on your own in future. The course actually includes a few smaller courses and is really comprehensive. Thx John!

Fast, clear and interesting

The instructor is very good, but the program is outdated and none of the gems used in the videos work anymore. You can verify by looking at students questions in the Q&A that go unanswered/unresolved. Asking for assistance won t help (see Q&A) so you ll be on your own to fix the issues.

Bringing my programming into the 21st century. Interesting to see how much simpler programming is these days.
