In this course, you will become proficient in C# and some of Unity’s core features, by creating a First person Shooter that includes a 3D environment, intelligent Non–Player Characters, and special effects.
In the first section of the course entitled Adding Simple AI, , you will use C# for the creation of a simple launcher. You will learn to instantiate, use and control Rigidbody objects from your script as well as creating explosions.
In the second section entitled Creating and Managing Weapons , you will learn to create and manage weapons using a simple inventory system. You will create an automatic gun and a grenade launcher, manage the collection of ammunition, and also implement a user interface to keep track of ammunition. In addition, you will also learn how to include these as prefabs, so that they can be reused in other levels, and to save you some coding too.
In the third section entitled Using Finite State Machines , you will get an in–depth explanation of how to create and use Finite State Machines (FSM) in Unity. You will create your FSM and use it to control the behavior and movement of an animated Non–Player Character. You will also learn how to employ NavMesh navigation so that your animated NPCs can navigate easily within the scene to either follow the player or go to a specific location. Finally, you will learn how to optimize your assets so that they can be reused seamlessly in other scenes with no or little changes.

Making my own games was one of the biggest dream of mine and its so easy to do it now with the help of game engines like Unity, Unreal Engine, etc. This course demonstrates very well how easy it is to make games on your own with Unity. This course leaves you with a foundation prototype to endless possibilities. Just get creative with it. Nice course to learn game development!

This course is a continuation of my journey through Unity, and Pat has been an excellent captain in navigating me through. He interconnects the information clearly and efficiently, and stays connected with the students throughout, and does a phenomenal job in teaching it. I would suggest if you are starting in Unity to start with his (Foundations Course), and move on from there. It is the journey that teaches you a lot about the destination. Drake

This is a useful course for getting to the more complex aspects of Unity. I am still working my way through the course but am looking forward to rigidbody physics, particles effects, artificial intelligence, animated 3D characters, menus, collision detection, sound effects, navmesh navigation topics. I’ve had no problems so far, and am just learning to use the Third person camera.

Even though I haven’t finished yet this course I have obtained lots of new knowledge so far. Until now, this intermediate course in Unity has giving me a better understanding related to how to create prefabs and rigidbody components in my games (something I didn’t understand very well until I saw the videos in this course). I have also managed to learn how to create weapons and an animator controller. Besides this, I have been able to improve my scripting skills in C# which will allow me to have a better control on my game objects for my future game projects. The most important aspect about this course is that the professor responds promptly to any inquiry you may have and that is not clear.

I have not finished the entire course yet, but the first several units are very well done. The instructor explains things well and makes the content seem logical. The pacing is excellent and the examples really show what is being taught. I feel that one of the best ways to learn is by actually creating something. This course is easily understood by beginners as well as more advanced students. If you want to learn Unity skills and techniques, try this course.

Great course, I love it. One thing I would recommend is to add subtitles to this course. English is not my first language and it would have been easier to understand because sometimes I have to go back and listen again so I could understand. I have not finished this course yet, but I learn a lot from it. Before this course I finished a different one about scripting in Unity and this course is much better.

This course is aimed at those fairly new to Unity and shows you how to use Unity, C# script and standard assets to create a simple game. He covers (among other things) weapon management , ray casting, health, and finite state machines. The pace has picked up from the previous course and Pat still does a good job with the details and does not leave you guessing. It has challenges at the end of each section to help you review what you have done. He uses the 2018.2 version of Unity but it will work with previous versions.
