Welcome to the very first Bolt  (Visual Scripting) Course on Udemy!!!

I’m happy to release this course and look forward to your feedback. Even if you do not choose to purchase my course I strongly encourage you to give Visual Scripting (formally Bolt) a try. It’s a great tool for beginning or experienced developers.

Why Use Vispual Scripting for Making Fun Video Games?

Developing Games can be very fun and rewarding once you know how. And with Unity’s Visual Scripting Tool (Known as Bolt when this course was created) it has never been easier to build full robust games without any programming.

I’ve been a business application & game developer for over 30 years.  I honestly think Unity’s Visual Scripting tools is one of the best that I have worked with. In this course you too will quickly see the real power of Visual Scripting as we almost effortlessly build a fun idle tycoon game like adVenture Capitalist. Even if you have never programmed before, this course will allow you to get started building the game in a matter of minutes.

Over the past 30 years I’ve developed games in a variety of platforms and languages.  On Udemy alone I have successful game courses on Odoo, Python, C#, and PlayMaker. I really cannot say enough good things about Unity’s Visual Scripting Engine.

Founder Greg Moss has been a business application and game developer for more than 30 years. Unlike the typical boring reference courses that simply walk you through options and commands like reading a dictionary, Greg produces fun courses in which either learn the tools by creating exciting games or you learn by using the tools to solve real world problems. Greg focuses on development solutions and design patterns that get the job done! First Class Game Studios Greg is the founder of First Class Game Studios, fun game studio that led off with a cutting edge highly experimental game project NeuroMage, a game that combines exciting spell-casting duels, gorgeous imagery, and cutting-edge biosensor technology. Using NeuroSky's Mindwave - a research-grade wireless EEG headset - Greg created a game in which you learn to harness the power of your own mind to build an arsenal of powerful spells and defeat your opponent. Greg has taken what he has learned through many years of business and game design architecture and put into making fun Udemy courses. Course is good but basic and kind of short. Could really use some work to make it a bit longer and go over more advanced features of bolt. I learned a bit while working in it but its far from excellent.

This course is exactly what I expected it to be. It’s a good course for anyone new to Bolt. In the end you are left with the functional foundation of an idle game which you can continue to build on your own. Side note: I also purchased the two other bolt courses created by this instructor and I look forward to working my way through them in the near future.

Very thorough course. I liked how the instructor put some time and foucs into refactoring. Also enjoyed that we didnt get caught up on Unity stuff and were able to focus on the logic and the bolt implementation. Took half a star off because we didnt touch on state machines at all, and I thought for example unlocked manager vs locked manager or one of the other toggles would have been a perfect spot to bring that in (and that is half of what Bolt does). Other than that, good course. Short and to the point. Well done.

feel like some of the steps get skipped. all of a sudden we are in a new area with no explanation how to get there. problem for people very new to this, perhaps not so much for more experienced people
