Are you nervous or excited about learning how to code? Are you a beginner who wants to get better at learning R the right way? Would you like to learn how to make cool looking and insightful charts? If so, you are in the right place.

Learning how to code in R is an excellent way to start. R is one of the top languages used by data scientists, data analysts, statisticians, etc. The best thing about it is its simplicity.

R was introduced to me in the summer of 2008 as an intern at a marketing firm; since then, I have been a loyal user. Along with SAS, I use it daily to conduct data analysis and reporting. R is one of my top go–to tools. I start with the basics showing you how I learned it, and then I teach it at a pace comfortable for a beginner.

We are living in exciting times, and the future looks bright for those skilled in programming. Industries are using data more and more to make crucial decisions. They need experienced analysts to help design data collection processes and to analyze it. Where do you fit in this picture now and tomorrow? Learning R sets you now and will sustain you for the future.

Instructor Details

One of my professors in college used to say, statisticians don t argue, they collect data. In the world we are living in today, this statement is not only true for statisticians but everyone. Almost every field and industry alike make use of data to make informed decisions. I earned a bachelor s degree in mathematics and actuarial science in 2008, and a master s degree in statistics in 2010 from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. I have been a statistician with the United States Department of Agriculture since. R was introduced to me in the summer of 2008 during an internship at a marketing firm. Before that, I used SAS and Excel. I still use SAS heavily, but I am a far better R programmer. I believe R s intuitiveness makes it easy to learn. My line of work involves collecting, storing, and analyzing data from hundreds of agricultural surveys. In my day to day work, I use R for ad-hoc data analysis and reporting. I create data visualization applications with R shiny that help identify outliers. I have also built a few personal R shiny applications. I am passionate about R, I use it every day and I look forward to showing you how to get the most out of your data.

I have no background in IT, but in need of programming skills to be more competitive in my job. So I decided to take this course, but was a little bit nervous about taking this class, thinking it might be too much for me, but the instructor/teacher was so professional and was really breaking it down that I felt quickly comfortable and I now have the skills needed to grow within my job.

As a brand new Master of Public Health graduate, I decided to take this course to increase my skills set. Being new to this I was very intimidated at first, but the lecturer broke it down in easily digestible pieces, and he used a pace which was easy for me to keep up with. This course will be very helpful to me in my professional career. I highly recommend!

Robert is very knowledgeable in R. I was able to have good fundamentals about R and also data manipulation required for a good data analysis being just halfway. I’ve tried several websites before learning new programming languages and to be honest, I’m already halfway through the course, within days, for two main reasons: 1) The course is very interactive and expects you to code as you go. I found this to be the best way to learn. 2) The contents of the course are super fun which probably explains why I went through the course this quickly. I will definitely recommend this course anybody new to programming or willing to be efficient in Data Analysis!
