Great course and in my opinion, extremely professional. It does get to a point where James talks as if you already know what’s happening, leaving out some definitions but it doesn’t cancel out the amount of good information this course has. I recommend this for anyone wanting to learn!

This is a really awesome course. Ok.. It only cover platformers issue.. but it covers them EXTREMLY well! There’re courses online with 20.30+ hours of content, that teaches you to create many different kind of games.. and still there’re things in this course that you won’t find in those other ones.. it even manages to simplify a lot of concepts that you will find, over complicated, in other courses here in Udemy. So why did I gave it only 4 stars and not 5? Because I feel this can still be upgraded with some lessons that are missing. For example.. there’s no explanation on how to BLOCK the player moving to a locked level on the world map.. there’s no explanation on how to make the menu interactable with keyboard or joypad Inputs. If these kind of little details lesson were in the course this would be a straight 5 start. I still hope they’ll be implemented in the future.. If they will.. then I’ll immediately change the rating to 5 🙂

Great pacing for the information provided, nothing useless in here
Amanda Louise Michel –
It’s casual and easy to understand, but contains a lot of info. More challenges would be good.
Damian Depuy –
Im a bit advanced for these tutorials but James does a great job going over the basics for newcomers.
David Valente –
Great course. Everything’s split up into manageable chunks and I feel like I’m getting to learn a lot about Unity’s various systems.
Patrick Ramirez –
So far so good. Was explaining everything well.
Jago Blacksky –
Great class so far! I am ready to start Lesson 12 and I’m having a great time. My experience with Unity is limited. I have completed one Udemy Unity clicker game tutorial. That was my first ever experience with Unity. I am now enrolled in this class, plus two other Udemy Unity classes for VFX and 3D Unity games. I like getting different perspectives from different instructors. This class has been wonderful so far. The tutorials are easy to follow, and enough of the prep work has been done to make the introduction to Unity very accessible to novice users. Anyone with the patience to sit still and work through the exercises can build a game using this tutorial. I really like how the instructor gets into ‘moving a player around on the screen’ very early in the lessons, because students can immediately see the results of their work. I will add more as I continue through the class.

I like this course. It’s interesting and understanding. The author tells in details. He had a nice voice. It’s a matter for me, because I bad know English.

Very good! This teacher is AWESOME! Explains the c# coding well and implementing assets into Unity. Look forward to more

Awesome course, high quality teaching. Thanks

I don’t have to finish this course to understand that this is the best purchase I ever made on Udemy. I have been looking for a course that will give me the basic understanding of Unity and C#. This is it!!! You cannot go wrong with this…
Justin Wigard –
Very, very helpful! Building on my current skills and knowledge without over/under explaining.

The concept of this course is learning by doing, which is fine, but as a beginner to both coding and Unity I felt I needed a bit more theory to fully understand what’s going on in the scripts. The focus is more on showing how it’s done than on explaining why it’s done a certain way. The steps are explained, but only briefly. The good: If you follow the instructions to the letter, you’ll end up with a very detailed platformer. It goes beyond the absolute basics. For instance, you’ll not only learn how to make the player jump, but also how to code a double jump. Another positive is that the audio is recorded well. The bad: James talks and types pretty fast, so it’s easy to miss an important step. At times I spent a lot of time trying to figure out why it didn’t work for me. One of the issues for me was that Visual Studio was a bit hard to read due to the color scheme. It’s easy to misread ‘ ‘ as ‘ ‘ for example, or ‘FindObjectOfType’ instead of ‘FindObjectsOfType’. All things considered it’s a course that’s fun and useful most of the time, but with some room for improvement.

Its an incredible course!!!

This was a very good course. The instructor made it very easy to follow along and showed us different ways of accomplishing the same things in Unity. It helped get me familiarized with Unity and C# again so that I can go on to try and make some of my own stuff. A very good basic course and a great start for just about anyone interested in coding/making games. I would always recommend this course to others!
Rebwar Hanna –
its Very good course and I loved, but I have to give it 3 stars because the lecturer wont answer any question, so you wont get help from him.
Chris McAuley –
Absolutely incredible course. Truly taking you from Zero knowledge to a fully working playable and great looking platforming game. James is a likable and knowledgeable teacher and covers topics such as controller support, animation, Moving Platforms and a Boss Battle. Highly recommended!
George S. French –
i am finding it easy to follow

This is hands down one of the best courses I have ever taken on Udemy. The instructor knows his business and has an amazing teaching style. I learned so much from this course. 5 stars is not enough!!!
Aiden Miller –
What I especially appreciate about this course is the way James explains WHY certain things are happening. He could very easily just have us copy his work without us understanding what the words we type into the compiler actually mean, but like a true instructor he explains what each word we type means in order to build our coding knowledge alongside our knowledge of unity.
Arif Ahmed –
One of the best 2D Unity courses around! From learning this from scratch is an achievement for me because now I can create 2D games.
Pedro Robaina –
so far very well explained…

I’m so glad I paid sale price! The course is really slow paced, I had to watch it at 1.75 pace. Its so basic you could barely call it a platform game, you get a double jump with basic movement, and the single hazard of spikes! The save game is hilarious not a real save game at all, just a waste of playerprefs use. There are much better free resources on video sites. The highlight of the the course was your use of the word bossCont, probably not your best move! You do know what it sounded like don’t you???? 95% of the game I ended up making was from my own research, if anything this course hampered my learning as it goes around things in a rather questionable way. If anyone is looking for a basic platform game course with the intention of actually making a playable game do not choose this course. Just a suggestion James, if you are going to make a game with so few features maybe try adding some polish like lighting, spatial sounds and include this as a lesson. I would highly advise anyone who is thinking of taking this course, especially if you are paying with real money look elsewhere. I bought this course off the back of your Youtube content reputation thinking this would be some kind of premium product, I was so wrong! Over all, don’t waste your money especially if you are going to pay the full price of 75! Very disappointing!
Juan Machado –
Explanations detailed and to the point. No fluff. No B.S.
Daniel Francis Manzie –
Great course. Easy to follow. I started using my new found skills to make my own game and I feel confident programming now. I’m very happy with the results. And if James makes and more 2D platformer courses, its an automatic buy for me!
Alfredo Boron –
Good Course, I just wished the instructor James broke up the course into a video on C# concepts and then one on Unity. This way people who need both can focus on learning one part at a time and those who are familiar with coding can jump straight into the Unity learning. Other than that the instructor is knowledgeable and gives practical explanations and uses for what you’re learning
Erwin Toro Chavez –
Excelente.
Max Osborn –
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAS
Luis Fernando Camacho –
One of the best Unity courses out there… better than some of the stuff you find at Unity Learn.
Ameer Faisall Essa –
I liked your course because you answer all the pipes nicely and you’re making everything so we can know because we use the codes
Leonardo Monge –
DEFINITELY one of the best courses in Udemy. The amount of content for a Super Mario 3 type of game is amazing and James ROCKS!!!!!
David Pak –
Amazing course for beginners, lots of information and explanations. James goes over in detail his thought process and reasoning behind the code and design which is lacking in other tutorials. Highly recommended!
Ariel Telot –
Excellent Course. I personally would have enjoyed more enemy and movement mechanics over the overworld level select section. I preferred this course over his 3D version . The entire project was lots of fun to create and the assets were very nice pixel art quality.

Sometimes the instructor goes too fast but if you have a basic knowledge about c# and Unity you can follow him without problems.
