This is a good course. The author’s speech is very accessible and understandable. I worked completely on Construct 3 and got a roadblock only in one place where you need to determine the coordinates of the center of the screen. For the Construct 3 I used Viewport methods instead of WindowHeight + WindowWidth. But I must note that this is only an introduction to Construct. Music, arrays and dictionaries, integration into publisher platforms, installation of ads, multiplayer there is nothing even superficially about it in the course. Nevertheless, to gaining experience of core developing various games, I advise this course to study. But after it you will need to take the next more complex course.

After completing the course; it was great learning from William. He was very easy to understand and follow and explained everything he was doing. There were some very minor opportunities for him. Strengths: Shows you how to install and provides an overview of the basic features and tools associated with Construct 2. He shows you the principles of drawing up an idea in a sketch form, creating a template image, and then coding interactable objects into a game using the Construct 2 events system. Keeps things easy and straight forward. Very easy to understand and happy to answer any of your questions. Provides you with in depth example templates for you to create some great games of your own. Opportunities: It would be good for William to explain how to export and publish your projects. More detail about a main menu was explained in the earlier sections, but it would be good if a more detailed main menu was covered. A walk through for how to do an end of game scoreboard. A ‘Cool Features’ section that provide additional information about how to do optional features such as saving games, effects, and cool tricks. Overall: William’s course is definitely recommended for beginners. They should find him very easy to follow and learn from.

It is seldom the case I leave a review before getting to the first half of the course. I had to make an exception with this one. Having reached section 4 I already feel comfortable with the tool and capable of building a simple game !! The course is engaging, the pace is perfect and the explanations and examples are very good . I think this is a good course for both adults and children alike , Mr Bushee is an excelent instructor. This course is great !! Congratulations ! Line me up for your next course!

It was nice to make so many different types of games, and learn about so many features of construct. By the end of the course, I was constantly anticipating what needed to be done next, doing it myself, then watching the video to see if Mr. Bushee did it the same way. I feel pretty confident about my ability to make my own games from scratch. Although I am entirely satisfied by the course, I would have liked to see a few videos near the end about where to go next. I realise that the course is designed to be taken by young, smart kids, but I personally would have liked to see some more advanced features, like looping and conditionals.

Overall, William did a fantastic job teaching his material. Unfortunately, I wasn’t very satisfied with the course as a whole for someone looking to pick up game development as a hobby. Since this course was originally designed for school aged children, the games were already developed and broken up into pieces for the kiddos to put back together. That is very useful to dabble but it skips the foundational information needed to create your own game. There were so many times that I had to pause the video and say what???. Then I found myself trying to logic out why William decided to code a certain way and then trial and error methods to figure it out on my own. I appreciate the experience but it could’ve been done better. It also doesn’t go into creating your own art for sprites since all of the art was already provided. Overall… Meh

I’m in lesson 85 and hands down love this course. I think it’s the best course I have ever bought on Udemy. The instructor is clear, goes through intro to advance concepts and more. The cool part is, after every section is done you have a little mini game to show off that you can build upon as well. Other stuff I’ve had a couple questions come up and the instructor answered them in a timely matter, provided examples, and steps for solutions. I really appreciate the way this course is going and am looking forward to finishing it. I’ll def. check out what other courses he has and recommend this course to anyone interested in learning Construct from an instructor who clearly knows how the platform works and how to teach it. Thanks!

I feel this is a great course for beginners just starting with construct 2 or 3. The full course is done in Construct 2, but the ui doesn’t have a huge difference, so you will be able to catch up with the instructor if you are using construct 3. I completed the course within a week. About the Instructor & Instructions He goes in a very gentle pace and you will understand the lessons without any issues. Lesson Level You can’t expect any intermediate stuff as the course is aimed at very pure beginners (KIDS). The author doesn’t take any effort in the course to explain the programming concepts that are used in his lessons, he just uses them and you can understand it as well. There will be no lessons on exporting to platforms ,multiplayer etc.. I would change the rating if the author makes few lessons on the missing topics I mentioned. Thats the only reason for my three star rating. Wishing everyone best of luck!
