Welcome to the Xamarin & Firebase: Authentication and Firestore for Xamarin course, in which you will learn to Create Android and iOS Apps that use Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore Services, and use Mobile DevOps (CI/CD)

I created this course because Mobile App Development is about so much more than just learning a language or a tool such as Xamarin.

It is about working in teams and have source control in your projects

Working with authentication services

Working with databases

It is also about delivering your app to your users, preferably automatically

So this course covers all of this and more. In this course, you will learn

The basics of Git & Github for version control

The basics of Xamarin Forms so you create native apps that share C# and XAML code

Powerful Xamarin Forms features such as Data Binding and Dependency Services

Data Binding so that you use the MVVM architectural pattern

Dependency Services so that you implement platform–specific code and use it in the shared code

Firebase authentication for registering and authenticating users with email and passwords

Cloud Firestore for real–time databases in the cloud

The basics of App Center so that you implement Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery in your development process

Instructor Details

I am a Software Engineer and Xamarin-Certified Mobile Developer. I have been developing mobile apps for 7 years now, I started when iOS 5 had just been released! During this years I have created apps for clients, both for private use and for public use. I have created some apps that I wanted to release to the app stores, and have created a lot of apps just for fun. The main platform I use is Xamarin, so I can code Android, Windows, iOS and macOS apps using my favorite language: C#. I have helped literally thousands of students to learn how to code, both online and in-person, and it has become my passion. I also love to design apps, whenever I get a little bit (or a lot) stressed when coding, I design apps, either out-of-the-blue concepts, or the next app that I have to code, or a design for a client. I like to think of myself as an entrepreneur, I am the co-founder of a startup, AlphaBeta, focused on helping Mexicans to adopt digital technologies in their lives, so they become more efficient, and live better lives. In AlphaBeta I have learned (and taught) how to use tools like Google Classroom, Power BI (super popular with SMEs) and Adobe Experience Design, and some of those courses, have been brought here as well. My students usually say that I know how to make difficult subjects easy to understand and that I help them learn in the best way possible: by doing.

You only show how to use the open . command within git for Mac/Apple and not the other options, one being the start . for Windows.

Surprisingly good so far. A magnitude better than YouTube videos. And the videos are up to date (not watching the developer on an older version of visual Studios)

I am rating this low not because it was not useful because it was. But because I think this is frankly the wrong approach. At one point I could not get the projects to build with out errors. Not exactly sure but it seemed some of the methods as taught no longer worked on never versions of Xamarin.Forms, nuget, Android versions, not sure where. I looked at the discussions and found out I was not alone. Someone had switched to Plugn.CloudFirestore. I decided to give it a try. I was able after a ton of trial and error and frankly very little examples or help got it working by the beginning of the DevOp section. I think this course while useful in a way I have succeeded despite what I ran into. I think the course needs updating to a newer VS version and all that entails.
