Lots of humor and very in depth! Just wish there were slightly more visuals. Less face on screen and more doing.
Mikael Eriksson –
Seems good and inspiring this far.

I’m absolutely an amateur only aspiring to design board games. For me most of the sections was amazing. Really above my expectations. The only stuff what I have missed was a few points that should be covered somehow (maybe I’m wrong). E.g. how to define the number of players and how to test out if you have over or under planned them. Is there any success factors what you should look at game testing (when can you consider going to a publisher/ self publish)

Because there were a lot of practical examples and I really enjoyed the way that topics are arranged
Yorgo Tsalamanis –
I love it

Having read or watched other instructional courses on the subject, I found this one to be much more philosophical in nature, rather than mathematical. Knowing the philosophy allows you to build much more complicated games than doing mathematical calculations of the odds of a character winning if they make a particular choice.

I am thoroughly enjoying this course. It s informative, of course, but the instructors also have a great sense of humour and explain everything very clearly.

The conveners are vibrant, clear and concise; the pacing feels logical and the lessons genuinely expand one’s awareness and creativity. I love it! Thanks, Udemy, Rick and Yann! I’ve gained so much.

I really like this course because everything they say makes sense, is easy to follow and it has help me understand what it takes for me to design a game, this is my first time designing a game, and watching this course has made that experience super fun, and incredibly interesting. I totally recommend this course to anyone that wants to be a BG desigetr

so Far, Sort of what i was expecting.

Overall, the course is good, really informative, explains concepts well, and the instructors are brilliant, BUT, there are a few videos that seem to just cut out while Yann is speaking (they may be over, but they just seem to end abruptly {I guess I’ve been spoiled by Rick announcing I’ll see you in an upcoming video in this and other courses}, it’s unclear in some cases if it was actually the end of the video, or there was more to be said one video that is absolutely cut short though is Video #35 Lies: Bluffing and Betrayal, that cuts out mid sentence)… It also seems a little light on content (especially considering other GameDev courses, and how much more there is to the board game industry that does not appear to be covered here)… Also, there’s no real closure to the course (despite not being updated in 18 months), it just sort of, well, ends… Yann playtests the Hidden Movement, and then it’s just into a group coaching section… I don’t want to be too critical, because as I mentioned, it has well explained concepts and I did learn valuable information, but I feel like, having finished the course, there could have been more to it…

This course really went into the details of game design, which is not only applicable in for board games, but any type of games. Theory, practicle examples and guides on playtesting are blended in really good and make this course complete.
Alex Dillon –
This was a great course. Detailed, interesting, thorough, with really good practical exercises.
Keanan Kleczka –
Good, precise descriptions. Everything is clearly explained in a straightforward manner. As an avid gamer I’m familiar with the concepts so far… Though I’m still at the beginning of the course!

It’s a great course that makes you really understand game design, and challenges you into thinking differently about your games
